2. GRANT AND PROPOSAL WRITER

FODAFRICA GRANT AND PROPOSAL WRITER JOB DESCRIPTION

FODAFRICA is currently seeking a volunteer to join the organization as the Grant and Proposal writer.

  • This person will be expected to:
  • Perform in-depth research into grant-making organizations and research each organization’s guidelines
  • Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
  • Compile, write, and edit all grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
  • Review the budget of a project or program for which funding is sought and make recommendations to better present it to grant-making organizations.
  • Through interviews and other means, gather information that will easily allow him/her to grasp the concept of a project or program for which funding is sought as defined by the person responsible for carrying it out.
  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization, and use that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants will be sought and to recommend the seeking of grants.
  • Keep in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application in order to be able to supply additional supportive material.
  • Manage the process of supplying progress reports when required by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
  • If requested, submit progress reports to any grant-making organization that has funded a program

Skills Desired

  • Minimum of Post secondary Diploma degree.
  • You must be a good writer and a very analytical individual
  • Some level of experience in grant and proposal writing is a REQUIREMENT
  • Persuasive: You must be able to make your proposal sound attractive that the grant-making company will be happy to fulfill your request
  • Have very strong written, communication English skills as well as strong Microsoft office skills
  • Have creative skills and ability to choose creative solutions for grant proposal presentations etc
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Poses strong oral and Interpersonal Skills to be able to communicate with potential organizations and or government contacts on the desired grant. Charm, Charisma and a great personality are desired for this role.

3. CONTRACT MONITORING & EVALUATION OFFICER

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and populate web-based monitoring sheets;
  • Filter information and run reports across the web-based monitoring system;
  • Support the monitoring process of baseline and indicator measurement;
  • Provide input to improve projects / programme outcome and output monitoring and reporting;
  • Regularly report on Programme progress and implementation of activities at staff meetings;
  • Report processes based on the performance of individual projects/programmes and agreed outcomes, outputs, indicators;
  • Development of standardized reporting formats based on agreements and guidelines;
  • Initiate the development of graphs to illustrate accumulated data for reports and presentations to stakeholders.

Functional Competencies

  • Experiences and/or academic knowledge in the field of Data Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Knowledge Management, and/or Results Based Management
  • Strong interest in research and writing.
  • Good IT competence and command of main office software programmes
  • Basic knowledge of web based management tools (data, information, cooperation)
  • Excellent internet communication, social media and searching skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and a strong team working capacity

Education

Minimum degree: Diploma in Political and Social Sciences, Public Administration, Economics, Law, Public health or any other related field and is enrolling in a graduate degree programme of a recognized institution in related fields

Language

Excellent knowledge of English with fluency in speaking, reading and writing
